Chicago Alderman Robert "Bob" Fioretti, 2nd Ward, said he is running for mayor of Chicago to restore racial and ethnic diversity and to give all of the the city's communities a voice in the running of "their city." Fioretti will face Mayor Rahm Emanuel in the Feb. 24, 2015 non-partisan mayoral election. Fioretti was the guest on Talk of the Town Radio Show hosted by award winning former Chicago City Hall reporter and columnist Ray Hanania, who covered Chicago City Hall from 1976 through 1992. The show was broadcast on Friday October 3, 2014 on WCEV 1450 AM radio and simulcast live on YahalaVoice.com internet radio. Fioretti acknowledge that his interest is not in Middle East politics but rather in ensuring that every citizen of Chicago has an equal voice in strengthening their city.
"I know he [Emanuel] dismantled or completely ignored the Arab Advisory council that was in existence and I do want to reconstitute it and put it back because I think we need to listen to them," said Fioretti, who acknowledged it was a no-brainer to restore the involvement of the various ethnic and racial groups that have been shut out of the Emanuel administration.
