This edition of Yalla! Fight Back Arab radio July 20, 2018 features an interview with Dennis Denno a political analyst and pollster who is very familiar with Michigan's election system and many of the candidates. We discuss the race for governor and the leading candidates. We also talk about the candidacy of Arabs, Muslims and Middle East Christians including Chaldeans and the expectancy of voters to support them. Should we just support someone just because they are "Arab" or "Muslim" or "Chaldean" or do we take the bigger picture in mind. A good case is the race for Michigan Governor where there is a candidate who is Arab and Muslim, Abdul El-Sayed, but the question is can he win as the Democrat in a race where a Democrat needs to win to push back against the policies of President Donald Trump?

Haaretz Columnist Bradley Burston with Ray Hanania on Arab Radio
Haaretz columnist Bradley Burston joins Ray Hanania on Friday’s edition of Yalla! Fight Back radio broadcast live in the Greater Detroit community and in Michigan, and live online, Friday May 11, 2018 at 7 am. Haaretz is considered one of the most respected newspapers in Israel and in the Middle East.
Burston, one of Israel’s leading journalists, has been praised for his objective columns which have addressed the extremism on both sides of the Palestine-Israel conflict, called “A Special Place in Hell.”
Burston is also a Senior Editor of Haaretz.com. During the first Palestinian uprising, he served as Gaza correspondent for the Jerusalem Post, and was the paper’s military correspondent in the 1991 Gulf War. In the mid-1990s he covered Israeli-Arab peace talks for Reuters. He is a recipient of the Eliav-Sartawi Award for Mideast Journalism, presented at the United Nations in 2006.

Let’s start with President Trump … do you think Trump is the problem? Your mistaken. We are the problem. Trump recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and what did we do?
What we always do. Yell, stamp our feet and yell again. In other words, we have done nothing! Worse is that the Arab World has done nothing. They are protesting publicly against Trump’s actions … but behind the scenes are making nice with Israel’s rightwing government of Benjamin Netanyahu
Ohio is about to pass another racist, anti-Arab law prohibiting Americans from speaking out against Israel’s racism and apartheid policies … it will be the 12th State …
And hey you Chaldeans … I know you don’t consider yourself Arab … but guess what … most American look at you and see Arab … they can’t tell the difference between Arabs and Chaldeans … maybe inside the Chaldean community … and I am a big champion of Chaldeans and Chaldean rights … but it doesn’t do anyone any good if we fight with each other … so whether you consider yourself Arab or not, if Americans think you are Arab, believe me, YOU ARE ARAB …
Syria is a mess … not because of Trump but because the US under Obama stopped helping to fight against the Assad regime … they want us to think it’s about refugees … is that what Arabs are, just refugees? So they are fighting over whether we should or shouldn’t accept Syrian refugees … we should but the real issue is HOW DO WE STOP THE CREATION OF REFUGEES by Syria’s dictator Bashar al Assad

The bullying of Sharon Brannigan
Sharon Brannigan, a suburban Township politician who made some improper comparisons while arguing about immigration policy has suddenly become the target of the protesters against anti-Muslim, anti-Arab racism.
But in their protests, they have turned into bullies who yell, scream, and disrespect the image of what Arabs are all about. And the protests are being waged in the shadow of a more sinister politicization of racism in a battle by failed Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle to get even with her much more politically adept rivals

Interview with Holy Air filmmakers Shady Srour and Ilan Moskovitch
Ray Hanania interviews filmmakers Shady Srour and Ilan Moskovitch on their new film "Holy Air," a satirically serious and funny look at the life of a Christian family trying to survive in the challenges of the Holy Land in Nazareth.
Srour is a Palestinian Israeli Christian and Moskovitch is an Israeli Jew who collaborate on a serious and funny look at one Palestinian overwhelmed by life and the Palestine-Israeli conflict to help his parents and wife survive as they prepare to have a baby.
Shady Srour is an actor and director, known for Holy Air (2017), Sense of Need (2005) and Ana Arabia (2013).
Ilan Moskovitch he is a Filmmaker, Producer, Casting Director,Director,Acting Instructor and Mentor. For 20 years, Ilan Moskovitch has been an integral player and a senior partner in the Israeli film industry, where he has been the Producer, Casting Director and Artistic Consultant.

10-17-17 Soda Pop war in Cook County explodes with a fizzle

Cook County Board President Tony Preckwinkle and former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg must think the people of Chicagoland's suburbs are stupid. It's the reason why Preckwinkle's oppressive tace on soda pop and sweetened drinks was so easily repealed.
A rebellion led by Cook County Board Commissioner Sean Morrison ignited a rebellion among suburban taxpayers and voters, that successful pressured the board to reverse itself. The soda tax imposed one cent tax on every ounce in a drink. That was 20 cents in additional taxes on top of the existing 9 to 10 percent sales tax on pop on a typical 20 ounce bottle of pop.
The soda tax war demonstrates Preckwinkle's poor leadership. She is not a very effective government official and the repeal exposes how easily she can be ousted if challenged by someone with a little basic knowledge of fairness, economic sense and management skills.
