Ray Hanania’s Podcast: Mainstream & Middle East

10-11-19 Kurds, UN General Assembly, Respecting religion

10-11-19 Kurds, UN General Assembly, Respecting religion

Radio host and award winning columnist Ray Hanania discusses the opening of the UN 74th General Assembly and offers some interesting observations about the huge UN body in New York City …

Hanania also discusses Arab World gestures that separate Judaism from Israel’s racist government policies, such as the New Year greeting offered by Saudi Ambassador to Washington D.C. Her Highness Reema Bandar al-Saud (Princess Reema) to the Jewish people for the start of Rosh Shashana (Jewish New Year) and the 10-day Jewish holidays leading up to Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement.

And, of course Hanania talks about the  uncertainty about the Kurds, their role in the Middle East and their longstanding rivalry with Turkey dating back to the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, and the history of betrayals not just by the Trump administration but by presidents going back to the 1990 Iraq war when Bush and then Clinton abandoned the Kurds to Saddam Hussein's wrath.

This show was broadcast live on radio Friday October 11, 2019 on WNZK AM 690 Radio in Greater Detroit, Michigan.

Ray Hanania on Rashida, Netanyahu, & Israeli elections

Ray Hanania on Rashida, Netanyahu, & Israeli elections

Radio Host and award winning columnist Ray Hanania hosts The Arab street Radio in Detroit on the 2nd Friday of every month and in this episode broadcast on Sept. 13, 2019, Hanania discusses the failures of the Palestinian leadership and the activists who are in the United States in confronting Israel's atrocities and their failure to engage President Trump.

He cites columns by Arab News Editor Faisal Abbas which makes a compelling argument that Palestinians need to engage Trump, not turn away as they have done in anger over some of his policies and especially now int he face of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's continued violations of international law and his vow to annex the Jordan Valley. Click here to read Faisal Abbas' column in the Arab News.

The radio show is broadcast in the Greater Detroit region live on WNZL AM 690 radio with some callers engaging in discussions about the failed leadership of Rashida Tlaib and Justin Amash, the Palestinian congress members from the State of Michigan. Hanania argues that if the Palestinian cause is like a loaf of bread then Amash and Tlaib are basically bread crumbs when it comes to effectively championing the Palestinian cause. Amash, a Palestinian Christian, ignores the Palestinian cause and Tlaib a Palestinian Muslim, stumbles the Palestinian cause because of her personal anger and issues with members of her own community.

Hanania also discusses the racism of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the upcoming Israeli elections on Sept. 17, 2019 in which he urges "Israeli Palestinians" to come out in a storm of voting and vote in the elections.

And, Hanania discusses why religion needs to be excluded from the narrative of the Palestinians and the focus must be on rallying "Arabs" together to confront racism, bigotry, discrimination and Israel's Apartheid policies.

Arab Radio with Haaretz Columnist Gideon Levy

Arab Radio with Haaretz Columnist Gideon Levy

Ray Hanania interviews Haaretz columnist Gideon Levy Friday August 9, 2019 on The Arab Street Radio broadcast live in Greater Detroit on WNZK AM 690 Radio.

Levy is an award winning columnist and a member of the newspaper's editorial board. Levy joined Haaretz in 1982, and spent four years as the newspaper's deputy editor. He is the author of the weekly Twilight Zone feature, which covers the Israeli occupation in the West Bank and Gaza over the last 25 years, as well as the writer of political editorials for the newspaper.

Levy was the recipient of the Euro-Med Journalist Prize for 2008; the Leipzig Freedom Prize in 2001; the Israeli Journalists’ Union Prize in 1997; and The Association of Human Rights in Israel Award for 1996. His new book, The Punishment of Gaza, has just been published by Verso Publishing House in London and New York.

Hanania and Levy discuss the reasons why many Israelis close their minds to the violence by their government against the Palestinians living under occupation in the West Bank, and there needs to be a reason to compell Israel to pursue peace. Levy also discusses the separatiopn between the Israeli Arabs and the Palestinians living under occupation and how the majority of Israeli Arabs are focused on issues involving their own civil rights and living standards and less on the concerns of the occupied Palestinians.

Arab Radio: Rashida Tlaib, Immigration, the US Census July 12, 2019

Arab Radio: Rashida Tlaib, Immigration, the US Census

Radio host Ray Hanania on TheArabStreet.org Radio show broadcast Friday July 12, 2019 on WNZK AM 690 radio in Detroit. Hanania discusses a range of topics with listeners including in this episode:

Should we crack down on immigration?

The U.S. Census and why it is important and corrupt … why not collect data on citizens and on everyone including Arab Americans?

The hypocrisy of Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib fighting with the Democrats … oops … Democrats fighting with Palestinians? Oh that’s right … the Democrats are worse than the Republicans when it comes to Palestinian rights …

And finally, we argue that Jesus was a Palestinian … yes he was. And many Christians who worship Jesus are former Jews who converted and have a greater claim to the Holy Land than many modernday Jews like Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whose family lived in Poland and whose ties to the Holy Land are slim at best, probably based conversion.

Arab Radio on Aladdin and why it’s bad June 7, 2019

Arab Radio on Aladdin and why it's bad

June 7, 2019

#ArabRadio Talkshow Host Ray Hanania talks about the new Disney Movie "Aladdin" and how it is just another continuation of Hollywood's racist approach to Arabs, live on WNZK AM Radio in Detroit, Friday June 7, 2019 from 8 AM until 9 AM EST (Detroit time). Listen Live online from anywhere in the world.

Host Ray Hanania discusses the new movie Aladdin, a remake from the original Disney film released in 1992. Hanania compares Aladdin to the 1950s "happy racist" movies and TV series about African Americans produced in the 1950s and 1960s, like Amos and Andy. He talks about the reality of the myth of Aladdin, which is NOT a part of the original The Arabian Nights, but was added by a European writer in the 18th Century, because he thought it was cute.

Yea, those Arabs, they are so cute and cuddly and expendable, manipulative and easily managed in their internal divisions.

Hanania also talks about the failure of Arabs in American to unite, to be divided and to allow Hollywood to churn out one racist anti-Arab movie after another.

Our topics on live radio in Detroit today includes a discussion of the Nakba commemoration, 71 years since Israel began the destruction of Palestine … and a look at the situation in Syria and the continuing violence there by Israel, the U.S., Iran and Russia … and we’ll take calls from listeners this morning …

We talk about the new Hulu TV series on American Muslims and Arabs, Ramy -- it's mostly about Muslims but it's really about Arabs -- America dislikes Arabs and embraces Muslims mainly because int heir eyes most Muslims in AMerica are non-Arab.

We also discuss how the news media is biased. They attack President Trump on everything EXCEPT on his policies on Palestine and Israel ... they criticism is mild when it comes to that narrow focus and that narrow focus is where thebias exists.

Our topics on live radio in Detroit today include a discussion on the hypocrisy of Facebook banning and censoring people because of their views while ignoring similar views by pro-Israel fanatics ...

We also talk about the efforts of protestors to block a discussion in Boston on BDS by speaker Roger Waters of Pink Floyd. A Federal judge has thrown out the claims of the protestors and said that BDS and Waters are engaged in Constitutionally protected Free Speech.

We also discuss the peace plan that President Donald Trump is preparing to unveil and why Palestinians and Arabs should engage in the process and not reject the plan outright. Palestinians need to be strategic and smart in how they confront pro-Israel bias. Rejection merely undermines the Palestinian cause.

And we also talk about the 107th Anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, and the conclusion this past week of Arab American Heritage Month, April, which was coordinated by ArabAmerica.com and Amal and Warren David nationally securing more than 120 proclamations and more than 20 states including in Illinois and Michigan.

Israel’s elections, and challenges facing Ilhan Amr and Rashida Tlaib

Israel's elections, and challenges facing Ilhan Amr and Rashida Tlaib

04-19-19 WNZK AM 690 Radio podcast

The Arab Street Radio discussion hosted by Ray Hanania for Friday, April 19, 2019, broadcast on WNZK AM 690 radio live in Detroit.

Guests include Ali Younes, a reporter with Aljazeera English and the Intercept, and later on the show with Adel Mozip who was appointed to the Dearborn School district board of trustees.

Younes and Hanania discuss the Israeli elections and why Arab Israelis boycotted the elections. Was it smart to do? About 50 percent of Arabs in Israel actually voted and in boycotting did the rest help empower Benjamin Netanyahu.

Younes and Hanania also discuss Congresswomen Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, and the challenges they face. Should Omar allow herself to be so heavily defined as a Muslim and shouldn't she fight to project herself as an American like everyone else in Congress. Were her words on the Sept. 11 terrorism flippant when she appeared at CAIR in March? And is Rashida Tlaib taking her job seriously? She represents a district that is about 75 percent African American and she barely defeated Brenda Jones the President of the Detroit City Council. Jones only lost because the African American vote was divided between four Black candidates allowing Rashida to win with less than 900 votes over Jones. Can Rashida win the election in August 2020?

Adel Mozip joins the discussion and helps us understand the Arab community in Detroit. Are they cohesive or are they divided.

S1 Ep10: The Mueller Reporter, media lies & bias against Trump

The Mueller Report, biased media & Trump April 18, 2019, Season 1, Episode 10

Ray Hanania on Politics analyzes the media bias in the coverage of the release of the Report on Alleged Collusion with Russian by Donald Trump prior to and after his election as President. The Mueller Report was completed after a staggering 22-month long investigation by Special Counsel Robert Mueller that resulted in a finding that there is no evidence to support the allegations that have been made against the President.

Podcast host Ray Hanania discusses the real problem and how national mainstream American news media bias is empowering President Trump and ensuring his re-election in 2020.

Israeli Elections and Arab Heritage month on Arab Radio in Detroit

Welcome to THE ARAB STREET Radio & Podcast broadcast from Chicago through 690 AM WNZK Radio in Detroit Michigan … It's Friday, April 12, 2018 ... and we are live on Radio in Detroit at WNZK AM 690.

This is one of two podcasts that I produce, this focused on Middle East issues. (I also host Ray Hanania On Politics Podcast which addresses mainstream issues. Look them both up on iTunes, Spotify or go to the website at RayHananiaOnPolitics.com for more info.)

This morning on The Arab Street Radio we are talking about the aftermath of the Israeli elections and the victory of rightwing fanatic, again, Benjamin Netanyahu. But we focus on the apathy of the Arab Israeli voters who boycotted the election and we discuss how they could have brought about change had they voted, but did not. In 2015 they elected 13 Arabs to the Knesset, out of 120 total Knesset seats. This time, they only elected 10 because of divisions and emotional reaction to anti-Arab provocations. If they voted to their potential of 20 percent of the population, they could elect 24 or 25 Arabs to the Knesset.

Can you imagine the influence they would have? Clearly, the oppressed Arabs in Israel can't. … We also talk about Arab American Heritage month which is now a national holiday celebrated in April by some 15 to 19 states, including Illinois where I live in Chicagoland.

And we give a shoutout to Warren and Amal David for coordinating this drive to make Arab American Heritage Month in April a national holiday. Through their efforts, so many states have gotten behind this campaign and it builds pride. Check them out at ArabAmerica.com.
